Dear Classmate,
What’s your fondest memory of Tulane? Football games in the Sugar Bowl? Riding the street car for 25 cents? Mardi Gras? Jazz Fest and, when all else failed, hanging out on the quad watching that dog catch that Frisbee. These common experiences inextricably bind us to each other and to Tulane. We are bound by these and a truly unique educational experience – to each other, to graduates of the past and to those of the future. Our 30th reunion is the perfect time for us to pay forward what past generations did for us, ensuring that what we love about Tulane is here for future generations to enjoy.
The Wave ’08 All-Alumni Reunion Party celebrating the success of Promise & Distinction: The Campaign for Tulane, will open the reunion weekend on the evening of Friday, October 3rd. The food and entertainment we all associate with New Orleans will be in abundance (surprise, surprise); reminding us how lucky we are to have had four years in one of the world’s most unique cities. There are more exciting events scheduled, including the homecoming game against Army on Saturday at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. The Tulane band will be back in action, too! Be sure to check our progress on the 30th reunion class page on the new reunions website http://reunions.tulane.edu for more details. Tulane is also collecting photos and memorabilia for a special “Memory Lane” exhibit – please send anything that you would like included to kcase@tulane.edu or the address listed below.
Last year the 30-year reunion class gave $664,078, and I hope that you will help us top their gift. To date, 222 of our classmates have contributed a total of $407,903 toward our class goal of $850,000. Contributions made by you to the Tulane Fund by the end of the calendar year will be counted toward the 1978 class gift. Gifts to the Tulane Fund are put to use immediately to support students, faculty, and programs. Let’s make our gift the largest ever for a 30-year reunion class. You can make a donation by returning the enclosed pledge card, calling 504-865-5794 or 888-265-7576, or online at http://reunions.tulane.edu.
If you’re still undecided, we say take a chance and come back. Reconnect with the people and places you remember, whether it’s riding the street car (now $1.25), going to Audubon Park and Zoo, or beignets at Café du Monde (yes they are still covered in real powdered sugar). Call up your old roommate or a classmate you haven’t seen, maybe since graduation, and challenge them to join us. It will be a blast. We’ll see you in October!
Sincerely,
